Travel chaos as British Airways cancels flights and ferry services are halted by 'weather bomb' storm with 70mph winds and huge waves

Dozens of flights and ferries have been cancelled today as a result of Storm Brian.
British Airways have cancelled 10 flights to and from London Heathrow to try and slow the pace of arrivals at the UK’s busiest airport.

Brittany Ferries have cancelled eight ferries, largely to and from Plymouth and Portsmouth, and a knock-on effect is expected throughout the rest of the weekend.
P&O Ferries is warning that Dover-Calais services on Saturday are being delayed by up to an hour because of bad weather.

In response to customers’ queries as to why flights were cancelled on Twitter, the airline said: ‘We're sorry your flight has been cancelled. Our operation has been disrupted due to adverse weather condition.’

To other fliers, they said: ‘Due to Air Traffic Control restrictions in London, fewer flights can operate per hour. As a result, we've had to cancel a number of flights tomorrow, including yours. You can check the latest news online.’
