WATCH: From 30,000 feet, waves forming into giant sandstorm in Saudi desert

From the cockpit of his plane which was flying at 30,000 feet on Wednesday, pilot Fahad al-Mughira documented a sandstorm that hit Wadi al-Dawasir.

“I picked up the scene from my plane on board the Airbus A330 on Wednesday afternoon, and we were heading south on a regular flight which we thought was a casual cloud at first, but after checking it turned out to be a giant sandstorm. Then I informed the responsible air authorities in the Wadi Al-Dawasar area,” al-Mughira told the Saudi website ‘Sabq.’

The website published two pictures. On Wednesday, the General Authority for Meteorology and Environmental Protection announced that weather fluctuations will continue in most parts of the Kingdom for a couple of days, amid forecast of active dusty winds.
