Powerful 6.2 earthquake STRIKES off coast of Japan in Pacific Ring of Fire
The quake — measuring magnitude 6.2 — struck east of the island of Hokkaido.
Its epicentre was about 114 miles (184km) east of the city of Nemuro on Hokkaido's east coast.
The quake struck at a depth of just 6.2 miles (10km) — meaning tremors would have been felt on the surface.
Serious damages and casualties are unlikely but in some areas, tremors and moderate shaking may have been felt.
