Bomb Cyclone and associated sting jet leads to stay at home RED warning as worst storm in 30 years in England
Residents across England and Wales are being told not to venture out during Friday for any reason including work or school as the risk from flying debris could lead to serious injury or death.

In what is being dubbed as the worst Storm since the infamous 1987 storm which saw max wind speeds of 122 mph after Michael Fish famously said not to worry as a hurricane was not on its way, Which by the way he was technically correct, led to damage costing millions and took the lives of at least 22 people.
Friday’s Storm Eunice has some similar characteristics, A rapidly deepening area of low pressure ‘Bomb Cyclone’, powered on by a very strong jet stream will see isobars close together to deliver wind speeds of 100 mph around the coasts and more unusually 75-85 mph inland.
The potential for a Sting Jet could increase those speeds by 10-20 mph however forecasting such a feature is tricky even at short range.
Should one occur as modeled by the Arome weather prediction model then a swathe of central England could see wind speeds top 100 mph.
A less damaging but equally disruptive part of the Storm will impact Scotland and Northern England with 10-30cms of snowfall over a relatively short period of time, Wind speeds wont be as high in this area but still significant enough to lead to blizzard conditions at times which will lead to impassable roads.
Sunday will also see strong winds as yet another area of low pressure barrels past close to the UK bringing gusts of upto 70 mph..
