Ireland: Scary moment tornado rips through Leitrim village
There were shocking scenes in Co Leitrim on Sunday afternoon, when an unexpected tornado caused considerable damage to a number of cars, local properties and boats.
As Ireland continues to deal with the impact of Storm Fergus, Leitrim village was hit with a tornado-like event which sent debris flying through the air and shattering multiple car windows.
Several locals took to social media to share footage of the rare weather event, which took place around lunchtime on Sunday as a band of heavy rain passed over the region.
Weather expert Alan O'Reilly, who mans the popular @CarlowWeather account on X (formerly Twitter), shared footage of the event as it played out..

Leitrim is one of a number of counties currently under a Status Yellow wind warning, though it has not been included in the Status Orange warning faced by Galway, Clare and Mayo.
